Online ProgramThe
University of Memphis Department of Journalism has one of the first online master's programs in the country. As pioneers of this emerging technology, the department has a number of graduates who have successfully completed their degree in many parts of the U.S. and Europe. Getting a Master of Arts in Journalism at The
University of Memphis means you will be taught by faculty who have years of online teaching experience. It also means you will be receiving a degree accredited by the only journalism program accrediting body in the U.S.
Regular Program The
Department of Journalism has programs of study for both those seeking a bachelor's degree and individuals interested in master's degrees in journalism.
At the undergraduate level we have five concentrations: Advertising, Broadcast News, Internet Journalism, Newspaper-Magazine and Public Relations. At the graduate level we have a resident program for the MA degree with individually designed areas of emphasis.
The
Department of Journalism averages 360 undergraduates and 50 graduate students. We have a full time faculty of 15 professors and lecturers, along with an average of 20 part-time instructors from major market media outlets. Our program focuses on applied journalism to help students learn the concepts and skills to be effective working professionals.
